10:15 AM.
Another routine day of fetching Ezekiel from school.
Ezekiel: Climbing to his seat on the car. "Daddy, kiapa Zeki nyanda ba kase coklat dang pa ibu guru?"
Daddy: "Ada apa so?" (forgetting that today is Valentine's Day)
Ezekiel: "Ini dang hari apa kote?"
Daddy: (just realized) "Adoh iyo kote.. today is Valentine's Day. You didn't tell me earlier that you wanted to give a chocolate to your teacher."
Ezekiel: "I told you this morning but you were not listening to me. You were busy doing another thing. Daddy kwa ada ba marah-marah no."
Daddy: "I am so sorry Ezekiel for that. I am very sorry. Daddy kwa ada ba upset this morning. But it's too late. We should have bought the chocolate last night."
Ezekiel: "Zeki malo skali soalnya Zeki nyanda ba kase pa ibu guru." Saying this with a very sad face while looking through the car's window over her teacher who is talking with another teacher at the school yard.
Daddy: (feeling very very very guilty) "Ok then. Turning off the car's engine. Manjo dang torang pigi di warung situ. Then let's find some chocolates for your teacher."
Ezekiel: Very excited, unfasten the seat belt "Ow, OK. That's good. Let's go."
At the kiosk near the school ......
Daddy: "Go and ask for some chocolates. And I think you also need to give one to your 1st grade teacher who is talking with your teacher now."
Ezekiel: Happily saying ... "OK." Then, "Mo beli coklat."
Man: "Yahh... Nyanda ada coklat. Biasa ja sadia banyak coklat. Mar so abis."
Ezekiel: So upset. Turning his back while looking at me. "Yaahhhhh..."
Daddy: "Manjo torang pigi lia di warung laeng. Sapa tau ada." That feeling of being so guilty strikes again. We then walked outside of the kiosk.
Ezekiel: "Daddy, why don't we buy Tango? There is chocolate inside."
Daddy: Amazed with Zeki's thought. "Are you sure?" Saying to myself that Tango is too cheap for a gift.
Ezekiel: "Yes. Tango jo."
Daddy: "Ok then. if you say so."
Inside of the same kiosk.
Ezekiel: To the man, "Mo beli Tango dang."
Daddy: "Why not giving two Tango to each of your teacher."
Ezekiel: "Ok."
Man: "Empat ribu semua."
Zeki then happily takes the 'chocolate' Tango with a beautiful smile on his face.
Daddy: "You need to give these to your teacher and then say Happy Valentine's Day to them."
Ezekiel: "Nyanda. Zeki mo bilang jo depe bahasa Indonesia. Bilang apa kote itu Daddy?"
Daddy: Oh iyo. Bilang Selamat Hari Kasih Sayang."
Zeki then dashes to her teachers who are talking at the school yard and still wondering why we haven't left yet. Then they see Zeki running to them. Some students are also looking at him now because .... I don't know why .... But many people are looking at him now.
Then I see him giving the chocolate Tango to her teachers. They are stunned. Well, me too. I have never seen him so happy giving something to other people. I think her teacher is also so happy. I even think that tears are on their way to pour on her face.
Ezekiel: "Selamat Hari Kasih Sayang, ibu guru."
Teacher: "Adooo....makase banya Zeki." With a beautiful smile on her face, she then takes Zeki's hand and pull him closer to her so that she can hold him. They are holding. Then Zeki pats her teacher's back.
Daddy: To the teacher ... "Somo pigi kwa tadi kong Zeki minta beli akang coklat supaya mo kase pa ibu kata. So nyanda dapa bli tadi malam. Cuma dapa bli Tango."
Teacher: "Makase banyak ne Zeki. Nyanda apa-apa biar cuma tango."
We then leave the school, feeling happy, satisfied, and joyful.
Ezekiel: "Daddy, I am going to make a flower with origami paper then I will give it to her tomorrow. I like the teacher. I will remember her always."
Then the story continues...................
